“Memoryal Sunday” is a community + family celebration of the North End's Black history and ongoing relationship with techno [electronic] music. This event, is a cultural exchange between Detroit music innovators and emerging national DJs of our Indigenous Diaspora. This event, features an artist talk, live music, afrofuturist art and design, food, vendors, and outdoor amenities for children.

Almost 30 years ago, “Legacy Detroit” decided that Memorial Day Weekend would be a time to celebrate ourselves and our indigenous cultural production of electronic music [techno]. We chose that weekend to celebrate our homegrown global music movement. In the spirit of that legacy, Detroit Recordings presents a new annual celebration to celebrate the past, present, and future of our Detroit electronic music legacy, in Detroit’s Afrofuturist music capital, the North End.
